Recently on her Instagram story, Kangana Ranaut shared a cryptic message discussing the challenges faced by 'women-centric cinema' and its struggles to succeed at the box office. While not explicitly naming anyone, her post seems to hint at Alia Bhatt's film Jigra, which opened with a modest box office performance earning around Rs 3.58 crore (net) on its first day across all languages in India.
Kangana's post raises questions about the trend of hindering women-centric films and their success despite efforts put into making them work. This isn't the first time Kangana has voiced her concerns about such issues in the industry. Prior to this, she had also criticized Alia's film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' predicting a poor box office performance and expressing her pessimism about the future of Bollywood as long as certain influential figures continue to hold power.
In Jigra, Alia Bhatt plays the role of Satya Anand, a determined young woman on a mission to rescue her brother, Ankur Anand, who is facing torment in a foreign prison. Satya's relentless resolve to save her brother forms the crux of the film's plot.
